PRI Foot Orthotics and Footwear

Orthotics can be very helpful for those who need foot guidance to achieve efficient walking or running. How our feet meet the ground is determined not only by the structure of the foot itself, but by our postural alignment and movement patterns. These factors are included in the assessment and taking of foot impressions. We may want to improve movement patterns prior to proceeding with foot orthotics as foot mechanics will often change with postural changes. When you are ready for your custom orthotics, Dr. Paul Coffin, DPM fabricates unique Postural Restoration friendly orthotics to meet your needs.

At Advance Physical Therapy we feel strongly that patients needing foot support start with appropriate footwear. The patient’s current footwear, foot type and walking or running patterns should be evaluated to determine the best type of footwear. We commonly recommend the Postural Restoration Institute 2022-SHOE-LIST based on foot type. Correct footwear serve as an essential foundation for orthotics to work effectively. Further, proper footwear may actually eliminate the need for custom orthotics.
