Coats For Kids Update

September 24, 2014 by Jean Massé

We still need more coat donations!

Dear friends,

I want to thank you for all the coat donations we have received so far for our Coats for Kids effort. But we still need more coats and we need your help. Let’s try to help as many children that we can!

My inspiration to initiate this effort comes from a couple of places. First, I recently become a father and I understand the wants of a parent to provide for their child, but maybe not all parents have the resources to do this. Also, last winter was extremely cold for our area and the forecast for this winter is to be the same or colder.

NOW is the best time to look into your closets or ask your family, friends and neighbors with children if they have outgrown winter coats that they could donate to our Coats for Kids!

Follow this link to learn about how to donate:

“I know there are so many causes to help with in today’s world.   Please consider assisting our cause which will directly help an area child stay warm this winter.”

Thank you for your help in this effort,

Matthew Harwood, PT, DPT, OCS at Advance Physical Therapy

photoWhy Donate?  Because coats become outgrown quickly in a growing child. Rather than donating to a cause and not knowing who it is going to, donate your coats/jackets to a cause that is for local children.   The John Avery Boys and Girls Club serves children who did not have proper coats last winter. Their directors have told us that they had children come to the center in light jackets and sweat shirts.

Here is how you can help!

What are we collecting? We are asking for new or gently used coats for girls and boys, ages 6-18.

Where can you make donations? Donations can dropped off at the Fleet Feet Sports stores in Carrborro and Durham.

When can you donate? Today, Tomorrow, Any day from now until October 16th!
