Beth graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill in 1991 and has worked as a personal trainer since 1997 in Durham and Chapel Hill area health clubs. Beth holds personal training certifications with the American Council on Exercise and the National Academy of Sports Medicine. She believes in implementing training programs that reflect attention to the specific needs and wants of a client, “I think listening to what the client says is the most important part of personal training. It is by listening attentively, that I know how to best implement a workout routine that brings results.”
Beth attained instructor certification in ChiRunning and ChiWalking in 2007 and currently leads ChiRunning/ChiWalking workshops and private lessons. ChiRunning and ChiWalking teach efficient biomechanics to enable effortless and injury-free running/walking. ChiRunning/ChiWalking focuses on alignment and relaxation; core muscles are engaged and a technique of leaning into the movement allows gravity to propel your forward motion for efficient running/walking. The essence of ChiRunning/ChiWalking is to relax and let your body do what it was built to do, leave stress, strain, and injury behind.
Beth has been teaching Pilates (Pilates Program Details) since 2002. She is certified as a Pilates instructor with the Pilates Certification Center. Pilates trains core muscle support for the spine and extremities. Because Pilates utilizes the transverse abdominis muscle, Pilates is a fast way to flatten one’s abs. Pilates with Beth will give you true core strength.
Beth also holds certifications in Yamuna Body Rolling, Kettlebell Concepts, and Functional Movement Systems. Beth utilizes the TRX (Total Resistance Exercise), Gray Cook Bands, body weight, free weights, physio balls, medicine balls, and balance equipment, among other tools for an efficient, diverse, and fun workout.
As a personal trainer at Advance Physical Therapy, Beth provides workouts that compliment Postural Restoration concepts and principles. In this way, your workouts will enhance fitness and maintain good musculoskeletal health as well.
As a client of Beth’s, you will benefit from a holistic approach that includes fitness and well-being. Beth encourages clients to empower their mind and their body to expedite results. “I think people need to believe in their ability to actualize their goals in order to be able to achieve faster results. By owning one’s power to create one’s reality, clients feel not only powerful in their body, but in their mind as well. This power translates to not only looking great as a result of personal training with me, but feeling good too”.
Personal training with Beth will bring your fitness journey to a new level: a better understanding of exercise science, enhanced ability to listen to your body, and increased core power and physical strength. Personal Training Rates
