Alma Vinjé-Harrewijn, PT – Physical Therapy
Alma Vinjé-Harrewijn PT CLT-LANA, native of the Netherlands, graduated in 1990 from the school for Physical Therapy in Utrecht and in 1994 she became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT). Moving to the US in 2000, she pursued this specialty and was certified in 2007 by the Lymphedema Association of North America (LANA). Alma also has extensive training in manual orthopedic therapy which she combines with lymphatic techniques to restore muscle and joint function.
Alma has education in the Waldorf School curriculum and worked as a caregiver at Camp Hills with children with special needs between 1978 and 1990. This period in her life formed her people skills.
Since 2005 she acts as a lymphedema consultant with the Chatham Hospital Iniciativa de Salud Hispana Breast Health Project: Hazlo por tu Familia at Chatham Hospital and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Alma is an accomplished author in the field of lymphedema care. She co-authored Omgaan met lymfoedeem (Bohn, Stafleu & Van Loghum, 2009) and Living Well with Lymphedema (LymphNotes, 2005). She was also a contributor to the book Voices of Lymphedema (LymphNotes, 2007) and she is a frequent contributor of educational articles to www.lymphnotes.com, a lymphedema support website.
