What Postural Restoration tests are used during my running assessment?
Specific tests, designed by the Postural Restoration Institute, help identify asymmetry of strength and performance between muscles on the right and left sides of the body.

This runner demonstrates the ability to maintain side to side hip/pelvis/spine control by lifting his knee and then his pelvis off the mat without rotating through the spine on both right and left sides. He has an easier time performing the test on the right side.

This test is used to identify hip joint position. This runner demonstrates neutrality on both the right and left sides of the body.

This test helps identify the structural integrity of the front of the hip joint on the both the right and left sides. This runner demonstrates an intact front hip joint. Also we can see the runner is asymmetrical in that his left hip does not drop down as far as the right side. A Postural Restoration program for this runner will help train muscles that counter his tight left hip flexors.
